Every edge shows its length while you draw it. For everything else there is a tape on the plan and three readouts in 3D.
The tape (M)
- With nothing selected, click Measurement in the plan's top-right toolbar, or press M.
- Drag a line between any two points. It reads its length, the ground altitude at each end and the slope between them.
- The line stays on the plan. Drag more; each is listed under Measurements in the sidebar with its length. Tap a line — or its trash button — to remove one; Clear all removes them all.
Measurements are marks on the plan, not shapes: they do not appear in 3D or in a render.
Distance between objects
Select two objects and the sidebar shows the Gap between the two points you clicked. Type a new gap and the second object moves to make it so — the way to set benches exactly two metres apart.
Reading the ground in 3D
The 3D view's button row has three readouts:
- Altitude — tap a point on the ground to read its altitude, its slope and the direction it falls. Tap again to move the marker; click the button again to stop.
- Slope profile — tap two points and the ground between them is graphed.
- Focus point — not a readout, but it sets the point the camera orbits around, which makes reading a corner of the site far easier.
A section through the whole site
For a profile across the plan rather than between two taps, the Terrain section tool (S) next to the tape draws one — see Read a cross-section.
